British-born Robert Cripps, and his wife Kim, relocated to Rias Baixas in 2015 via spells in Napa, Burgundy and latterly the Languedoc, where they owned and ran Domaine du Pujol for 22 years before moving to Galicia.
We are excited to be working with Robert and Kim from the very beginning of their adventure in Galicia. The first vintage of their Albariño was 2016, their rosé 2017. They currently source fruit from two old parcels of vineyards (60 – 100 years old) in Salnés, the most northerly and coolest sub-zone of Rias Baixas, with both vineyards within 5 kilometres of the sea. Fermented and aged in 2,500l foudre before being bottled with lower levels of SO2. Their wines are about balance with finesse and freshness with a hint of oak that supports the fruit. As Robert himself describes it, “the complexity and texture of White Burgundy with the freshness and minerality of Albariño”.
