Beaujolais Mixed Case 2021

Whole cluster cold carbonic maceration for only a few days, to give it a lighter, almost rosé colour. Perfect for a Beaujolais breakfast. Low sulfur; less than 10mg SO2 total.

Galoche is the name of a stream that passes the winery down in Anse, Southern Beaujolais. Here the soils are limestone and clay rather than granite (like up in the northern villages). This wine is vibrant, bright, with wild strawberries and a gentle spiciness owing to the 100% carbonic maceration of the grapes..

The fruit of Beaujolais Villages comes from organically farmed vineyards in Lantignié. Low extraction, carbonic maceration, no pigeage, and no punching down: just keeping the cap wet.  The style here is really elegant.

Romain Zordain makes fabulous, juice-driven wines that are a joy to drink and age exceptionally. Romain works with natural yeasts and is a master of the new-school of long, cool carbonic macerations favoured by Chauvet, Foillard and Lapierre amongst others.

From 40 year old vines. Parcels at a high altitude are sandy granite whilst parcels at a lower altitude are sandy clay. Organic farming, harvested by hand. The wine is aged for five months in demi-muids (which are a minimum of 10 years old). Bottled unfiltered by gravity following the lunar calendar.

Taking advice from and being mentored by Descombes, Damien has followed the same path - organic viticulture, hand harvesting, native yeasts and zero intervention in the cellar with little or no sulphur added at bottling.
