Pét Nat Case

The 2nd release of Petulant Nature from Westwell has been a hugely popular wine for us these past few months. Westwell love Ortega (a cross of Müller-Thurgau and Siegerrebe) as it is very adabtable. They make 5 different wines from the same vineyard site. This is fermented naturally and bottled when cooled to allow the remain sugars to convert into more alcohol and bubbles.

Col Tamarie  is a blend of six grape varieties, including Bianchetta, Grapariol and the more familiar Glera.  The wine spends a small amount of time on skins  never has any sulphites added and rests for a minimum of 10 months before being available.  This may originate from Prosecco territory, but it is so much more than that, we drink this and think of sitting by a canal in Venice with a handful of Fritto Misto.

This wine is made by added dried (passito) must from Garganega to a base Garganega wine for refermentation in bottle. Great freshness but also a fantastic apricot character, it is just 10% so it is a perfect wine to enjoy for Apero whilst cooking or in the park (as many bottles have been previously).

Theo's Müller-Thurgau has always had a good following. A grape that was pulled up by a government program meaning there is little of it left. It doesn't like not having sulphur so making it fizzy keeps it fresh. Its a vibrant orange colour due to some time on the skins, fun and incredibly rare.

Phillipe Messier makes this wine with the wines bars of Paris in mind. He is undoubtedly a Pet Nat 'ninja'. This wine is vinified at his cellar in the Loire Valley with local, organic Chenin Blanc, SemiIlon from Bordeaux and Mauzac from Gaillac. Crystal clear in style as this is wine is disgorged before release.

Gianni Storchi is farming following Biodynamic practices and this is truly a world class red ancestral . A blend of Lambrusco Salamino, Lambrusco Maestri, Ancellotta it is wonderful with Mortadella, Cured Ham and Pizza. We’ve been a fan of these wines for some time and we’re delighted to finally have an allocation.
