Whole cluster cold carbonic maceration for only a few days, to give it a lighter, almost dark rosé colour. 2022 was a warm summer so lots of ripe fruit. Perfect for a Beaujolais breakfast. Low sulfur; less than 10mg SO2 total.
Galoche is the name of a stream that passes the winery down in Anse, Southern Beaujolais. Here the soils are limestone and clay rather than granite (like up in the northern villages). This wine is directly pressed rosé with elevage in stainless steel tank. Superb with Reblochon.
Sat in an amphitheatre looking down on the back of La Madone, Fleurie Charbonnières is 1.2 hectares of vines amongst the acacia forest. The land has been farmed organically for over 20 years, the youngest vines are 40 years old and the oldest are over 65. The soil is a mix of granitic sand, weathered rock fragments and igneous rock. Fermented and aged in tank this is a clear expression of this special Fleurie terroir.
Romain Zordain makes fabulous, juice-driven wines that are a joy to drink this is his third white vintage. He's nailed it this vintage with a lovely balance of acidity to creaminess, white Beaujolais is on the rise. The Chardonnay for this cuvée comes from Romain's friends vineyard in Blacé
From 80 year old vines in Charentay just South East of Cotes de Brouilly. Cool carbonic fermentation for 10 days and then pressed off. This wine always overdelivers for its classification, and is classic Grand Pré in style, silky and very easy on the palate. Just add saucisson Beaujolais for a great Apero.
Nicolas bottles this wine as a Vin de France as the Beaujolais-Villages classification would not explain the terroir here. On this parcel there is old vines, high altitude and very little soil meaning the wine expresses the rock on which the vines grow. Very mineral and this is a wine built for Bavette.
