As our name suggests we are into looking beyond the perceived ’top’ areas to seek out new wines and Marchampt is quite the place. Having tasted some excellent wines from some of the few growers that don’t send their grapes to the co-operative in Quincié we are delighted to start working with Nicolas Chemarin.
The vineyards are at around 500m above sea level, the soil is very granitic, the vineyards are steep. Nicolas grew up here and it is a labour of love to work this site for him. He also has a foot in the future and the evolution of the area, he has planted some Mondeuse with the first harvest coming this year.
