Slate slopes and salty sea breezes — on the shores of the Mediterranean, Viñedos Verticales’ vineyards cling to precipitous hillsides. Viticulture here is very traditional, farmed by hand (the only way you can at these inclines) and irrevocably linked to mules used to work the land; they are used to plough, harvest and for loading. Old bush vine Muscat of Alexandria makes up the majority of plantings, alongside Pero Ximén, Doradilla, Garnacha and Romé, which are tended ecologically to protect the environment.

The same care is given in the winery, gentle handling of the grapes and indigenous ferments in a mixture of vessels stainless steel, concrete vats and tanks, wooden barrels and large oak casks over 100 years old.

Noctiluca is a sweet wine harvested from 130-year-old Moscatel vines and dried under the sun. Each bunch is laid out manually on an awning and turned until they are perfectly shrivelled. Once in the winery, the grapes are pressed and the must is spontaneously fermented in  tank. When the wine reaches the desired alcohol and sugar level fermentation is stopped by cooling (below zero) and it is kept in stainless steel for a few months at a very low temperature.
