Domaine Olivier Morin

Olivier Morin is our only Vigneron who had a former career as a radio DJ but yet another one who defines the spirit of Uncharted.  Chitry is not on many peoples’ wine radar yet finding wines like this is the single reason we exist.  From unfashionable terroir, just south of Chablis at the limits of where Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Aligoté will ripen, Olivier’s 12 hectare family Domaine has been making wine since the middle of the 17th Century.  Deep-rooted vines, kimmeridgian chalk soils of the same pedigree as his famous neighbour, respectful farming, low-intervention winemaking and minimal sulphur deliver wines with backbone and a true sense of place.

These are not lush, fruit driven, worked or gourmand; they are refreshing, honest and direct: the whites pungent and mineral, the reds detailed and red-fruited.  In much the same way as Vincent Dauvissat and Nicolas Vauthier (of Vini Viti Vici) in neighbouring Irancy, Olivier has done much to elevate Chitry beyond simple bistrot wines destined to wash down the local andouillette.  We are delighted to be working with him.
