Slate slopes and salty sea breezes — on the shores of the Mediterranean, Viñedos Verticales’ vineyards cling to precipitous hillsides. Viticulture here is very traditional, farmed by hand (the only way you can at these inclines) and irrevocably linked to mules used to work the land; they are used to plough, harvest and for loading. Old bush vine Muscat of Alexandria makes up the majority of plantings, alongside PeDro Ximén, Doradilla, Garnacha and Romé, which are tended ecologically to protect the environment.

The same care is given in the winery, gentle handling of the grapes and indigenous ferments in a mixture of vessels stainless steel, concrete vats and tanks, wooden barrels and large oak casks over 100 years old.

The Moscatel comes from two coastal vineyards with an average vine age of 50 years. The Pedro Ximen is from a site sitting at 1000m altitude. Hand harvested grapes (varieties kept separate) spend one day macerating on the skins and then undergo spontaneous fermentation in old barrels. After fermentation the two wines are blended and aged for 10 months in Foudre on the lees.
