Christa von La Chevallerie’s Nuwedam Farm, is situated in the Paardeberg, Swartland.
Old Chenin Blanc bush vines were planted 1974. Christa is working the site alongside Rosa Kruger who has done so much to promote great viticulture in the Swartland.
At an altitude of 330m, with yields of 1.2 tons/hectare this vineyard has been the source of great wines from the likes of Donovan Rall, Eben Sadie and Chris Alheit.
First wine to bear the Certified Heritage Vineyards seal as devised by the Old Vine Project is Nuwedam Old Vine Chenin Blanc 2017, grapes from a 1974 vineyard on Christa von Le Chevallerie’s Swartland property. Some 4.5 tons were picked, Eben Sadie making some of the wine in the Swartalnd and Alheit the rest in Hermanus, the two components blended together after.
