Romain Le Bars Lirac AOC 2023

Country: France
Region: Lirac AOP, Rhone Valley
Grape:  Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault & Carignan
Colour: Red
Bottle Size: 75cl
Alcohol: 13.5%
Vintage: 2023

Romain runs a tiny 1.5 hectare estate in Gard, in the southern Rhône region. Since his first vintage in 2018 he has slowly acquired more land, meaning there is more wine available for us. Romain spent 7 years working with winemaker Eric Pfifferling at Domaine de L’Angloreprior to that assisted Matthieu Vallée at Château Yvonne. Romain works, mostly, with Carignan, Grenache and Syrah, and vinifies in old wood using little to no sulphur. His wines are about drinkability and he is really showing mastery of carbonic maceration. Incredible and extremely limited wines, from a rising star in the South of France.

A blend of 50% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 15% Carignan and 10% Cinsault.  14 day carbonic maceration, direct press then 30% of the wine is aged in vat and 70% in barrique.  The aged wine is blended and bottled without sulphur.
